NATIONAL SPRINT TOUR COMING TO TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY ON JULY 16TH

As track officials prepare to release the 2006 schedule laterthis weekend, Tri-City Speedway Co-Promoters Mike Graham and Roger Crick havecontracted the National Sprint Tour to compete at the Venango County half-mileoval on Sunday July 16th in an event that pays $10,000-to-win. "We are excited about this show because it will be the first major SuperSprint race at Tri-City since 2002," said Graham. "It will also be the onlyopportunity for race fans in our region to see the top drivers and teams of theNational Sprint Tour this season." Led by 20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser and his Steve KinserRacing No. 11, the National Sprint Tour includes some of the top drivers andteam owners in national motorsports. Kinser's team will include two otherdrivers this season, Tim Kaeding and 2005 Knoxville Nationals champion KraigKinser. Other drivers and teams contracted with the National Sprint Tour includeformer World of Outlaws champion Danny Lasoski (Roth Motorsports No. 83), PaulMcMahon (Tony Stewart Motorsports No. 20), Joey Saldana (Kasey Kahne MotorsportsNo. 9), Jason Meyers (Elite Racing Team No. 14), Brian Paulus (P&P MotorsportsNo. 28), Jason Sides (Sides Motorsports No. 7), Jason Solwold (CarnahanMotorsports No. R19), Shane Stewart (Rudeen Racing No. 26), Brandon Wimmer (TwoWinners Racing No. 7TW), Lucas Wolfe (Selma Shell Racing No. 11H), and localfavorite Tim Shaffer (Parsons Motorsports No. 6). Those drivers and teams will be joined by others from throughout Pennsylvaniaand Ohio, including Tri-City's own stars such as three-time and defending trackchampion Rod George, Bob Felmlee, Ed Lynch Jr., Andy McKisson, Jarod Larson,Todd Bauer, Andy Priest, Jason Jacoby, Jody Keegan, Rob Eyler and John Schuyler. "This is the first time ever that sprint car champions like Steve Kinser andDanny Lasoski have raced at Tri-City," noted Graham. "Our fans have asked for anevent of this caliber for years. They want to see their local heroes race withthe best in the country on the fastest sprint car track in Western Pennsylvania.We believe this event will offer our fans that opportunity at a reasonableadmission price." Gates for the National Sprint Tour event will open at 4 p.m. and racingstarts at 6 p.m. Adult grandstand admission for ages 16 and over will be $25.Student grandstand admission for ages 13 to 15 will be $15. Children 12 andunder will still receive free grandstand admission. The event will also featurethe William R. Karns Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning Detroit Iron ProStock Series for the E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks. Operated by Fred Brownfield of Brownfield Promotions, Inc., of Snohomish,Wash., the National Sprint Tour was organized in late 2005 after a failedattempt to start the National Sprint League. Brownfield stepped up to the platewith the encouragement of Kinser and other race teams in an effort to commence anew sprint car sanctioning group that is expected to challenge the World ofOutlaws as the top echelon of winged warriors in the United States. "The National Sprint Tour representatives have been excellent to work with sofar, and we look forward to promoting this race with them throughout the comingmonths," said Graham. "I also had an opportunity to talk to Steve Kinserrecently. He wants the National Sprint Tour to succeed and he is willing to workwith Tri-City in order to make this a premier annual event." To top it off, the National Sprint Tour event will conclude a huge weekend atTri-City as Clear Channel Entertainment's USHRA Monster Jam will be the featuredattraction on Friday July 14th and Saturday July 15th. "This will be a first class motorsports weekend for fans of all ages,"concluded Graham. Tri-City Speedway is owned and operated by Roger and Susie Crick and Mike andMargaret Graham. They have promoted Sunday night racing at the popular facilitysince they reopened it in 1996. The Super Sprints, DIRT Modifieds, E Mods, ProStocks and Thundercars race each week at the Venango County half-mile dirt oval.Tri-City is located seven miles north of Franklin, Pa., off State Route 417.
