BUG DAY A SUCCESS/PORT ROYAL SET FOR SEASON OPENER

Despite cold temperature and wind, the Port Royal Speedway opened the season on Saturday March 18. The largest fan and car count to ever witness an opening practice session braved high winds and near freezing temperatures by days end. Fifty six race cars were in the pit area and included Sprint Cars, Late Models, Pro Stocks, Enduro and Powder Puff Cars, 4 Cyl. Stock Cars, Mini Modifieds, Vintage, and small block Modifieds. Track Maintenance personnel had the half mile oval surface smooth. With the test and tune day over, teams and track Officials will now focus on opening night Saturday March 25 at 6:00 P.M. Gates will open at 4 with a mandatory drivers meeting set for 5:15 P.M. Scheduled to compete are the Aumiller & Associate Sprint Cars, Ramsey's Car Wash/AB Auto Glass Late Models, Stong's Auto Parts Pro Stocks and Parson's Auto Salvage/Casner Service Center 4 Cyl. Stock Cars. Long range weather forecasts call for cold temperatures opening day. Speedway President Tom Little and Staff will watch the weather closely during the week. " If night time temperatures are warm enough, we'll open the season next Saturday night," said Little. " We'll wait and watch before making a final decision early enough for our teams and fans to make their plans." Season tickets remain on sale by calling the speedway office at (717)-527-4414.
