"America's Series, the All Star Circuit of Champions"

CAMARGO, IL – In preparation for the 2006 racing season, All Star Competition Director, Randy Fink, has announced several rule changes that will not only help to improve the racing program, but are also intended to promote a more fan-friendly event.
Some of the minor rule changes are related to body panels, nose wing positions, and ignition box location. The changes can be found on the All Star web site at www.allstarsprint.com or in the 2006 printed rule books, which will be available at the first race at Volusia. Two of the biggest changes are in regards to provisional starting positions and red flag fuel stops.
For the 2006 season, there will be no "provisional" or "promoters' option" A-Main starting positions. The only exception to this revision is if a specific, mutually acceptable agreement exists between the promoter and All Star management. Should such an agreement exist, the specific formula and details must be announced at the driver's meeting. After the conclusion of the driver's meeting, no addition or changes can be made. If an All-Star member is added to the field, the team will race for the designated prize money only, and no All Star A-Main points will be awarded.
Also, the issue of red flag fuel stops has been addressed. There will be NO open red flag fuel stops. You must be prepared to complete the designated number of laps by using a larger fuel cell if necessary. No adjustments will be made to the car during the course of the race. If a driver goes to the work area for any reason during a red or caution period, they will rejoin the field at the tail. “Stopping the race to add fuel just compromises the integrity of the race,” says Fink. “The fans come out to see an exciting race from start to finish. We don’t want to stop the action for fuel, only to have what amounts to a 5 or 6 lap dash to the finish.” Most cars are equipped with a smaller fuel cell to decrease weight, but with the implementation of the weight rule a few years ago, the smaller fuel cell is no longer necessary. “These guys better think about investing in a 33 gallon fuel cell this year to run with our series,” Fink Stated.
Changes to the Rookie of the Year points system and the Haulmark Dash have also been made for the upcoming season in an effort to add excitement to the racing program.
The Rookie of the Year points were previously awarded as (1) point to the highest finishing rookie who transferred to the A-main. For 2006, there will be (1) “show up” point awarded for all rookie drivers who make the effort to compete in any given event. Points will then be awarded for the A-main based on how many rookie drivers transferred to the main event. If three rookie drivers compete in the A-main, points will be awarded (3), (2), (1) in the order that they finished.
The Haulmark Dash has taken on a slightly different form as well. Points for the Dash will be awarded the same as in years past and will count toward the Series Championship points. However, the points will also be kept separately and will be tallied throughout the season for a Haulmark Dash points fund to be paid to the Top 6 drivers at the end of the season.
