NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (January 9, 2006) – The 2006 weekly racing season of the Susquehanna Speedway Park will begin on Thursday, April 13 featuring the Sprint Cars, Xtreme Stock Cars and Legends Cars.   The 4/10 mile dirt track enters its 52nd season of operation with an aggressive schedule of more than 50 events. Its Friday night weekly program will begin the following night on April 14 with the Trail Motors Super Sportsman, ARDC wingless Midgets and Street Stocks. The night will be highlighted with a visit by the Easter Bunny and a Kid’s Candy Scramble on the frontstretch.   Â
A few Saturday events are also scheduled on holiday weekends. SSP hosts the widest variety of racing divisions in the Central PA area which includes the Sprint Cars (19 races), Xtreme Stock Cars (23 races), Trail Motors Super Sportsman (16 races), ARDC wingless Midgets (7 races), Late Models (15 races), Street Stocks (17 races), Legends Cars (10 races), Classic Cars, (8 races), Women on Wheels Stock Cars (6 races), Four Cylinders (6 races), Penn Mar Vintage Club (4 races), The Great American School Buses (7 races), Mini Vans (15 races) and much more. You'll also see the traveling stars of the National Sprint Tour and DIRT Big Block Modifieds during the summer. If that's not enough, there are two Thrill & Stunt Shows scheduled for Saturday, May 27 and Saturday, September 23. There will also be a Newberry Township Community Fair held during the day on Saturday, September 23.
New for 2006 is all Children 12 and under will be admitted free with the exception of the National Sprint Tour dates on June 8 & 9 and August 3. All fans may also visit the Fan Alley behind the Turn One Side Main Grandstand to watch their favorite drivers and crews work on their cars when they are not racing during the evening. SSP will also host three different Camera and Autograph nights in August, where fans can meet their favorite drivers face-to-face right on the track in which they compete every week.Â
There will be a multitude of children’s activities featured during the season including Toy, Money and Candy Scrambles, the ever-popular Box Car Races, Big Wheel racing, and even trick or treating in the pit area at the Candy Bowl on Saturday, October 28.  Â

There will be no Sunday rain dates for cancelled Thursday or Friday events as done during the past two seasons. A few “special†events will have raindates as marked on the schedule.

Gates will open for both the pit area and grandstand gates at 5:00 p.m. in 2006 for both Thursday and Friday night racing. Warmups begin at 7:00 p.m. with racing action beginning at 7:30 p.m. Race fans can continue to expect a fast paced 2 ½ to 3 hour program each and every night.Â

Regular General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Thursday nights will be Adults (18 & older) $14.00; Teens (13-17) $10.00; Children (12 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $22.00 with a reduced price of $20.00 for all pit competitor license holders. Prices will be slightly higher for special events.Â

- SSP will continue its Repeat Fan Discount in 2006 in which there will be a $2.00 discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous 2 events completed only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during the season for great prizes. Last season, 10 winners were drawn from the repeat fans and each winner received $30 in SSP Gift Certificates for tickets or concessions. The discount is not valid for pit pass purchases. The 2005 winners were: Chip Rice (York); Clarence Diehl (York); Russell Walter Jr (New Oxford); Judy Sipe (York Haven); Paula Koenig (Littlestown); Dickie Frazer (Hanover); Mark Yocum (Wernersville); David Taughinbaugh (York); Steve Holcomb (Dover) and John Peril (Bloomsbury, NJ).
