located in Fremont, Ohio, opened their doors to the public on
Saturday as fans, drivers, owners, media, and product representatives
were invited to see what goes on behind closed doors at the Kistler
operation. It was announced earlier in the week that Kistler Racing
Products would lend support to the F.A.S.T. Championship Series for
the 2009 season as the title sponsor, which added to the already loud
buzz about the new concept as people poured into the Kistler shop from
all around Ohio and Western PA.
Guest speakers Brian Kemenah (Kistler Racing Products), Keith Berner
(Accu-Force Shock Dynos), Greg Merchinson (Kinsler Fuel Injections),
Byron Reed (9 time track champion at Attica and Fremont), Jack Elam
(J&J Chassis), and Paul Kistler (Kistler Engines) were all on hand
for a question and answer session that proved to be educational for
the race teams in attendance. In addition to that, Paul Kistler
treated the crowd to a demonstration of the shops engine dyno
process and Accu-Fource demonstrated their shock dyno to interested
parties. Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments were served throughout
the day.
The overflowing crowd spent most of the day bench racing and talking
about plans for the 2009 racing season as they awaited the results of
the raffle where David Harrison walked away with the grand prize his
choice of a J&J, JEI, or Eagle Chassis. Jared Horstman won a set of
wings from Wings Unlimited. Tim Shaffer won a complete Direct Mount
front end assembly and Byron Reed won a set of Pro Shocks.
Paul Kistler expressed his gratitude to the local racing community by
saying, You guys built this place. I could have just pocketed all the
money, but I wanted to build a facility where you guys would all enjoy
coming to and could be proud of. In regards to title sponsorship of
the F.A.S.T. Championship Series, Brian Kemenah stated that, We made
the decision to do this because the money is going back to the racers.
Thats the main reason. We knew that F.A.S.T. is putting the money
back into the hands of the guys who need it.
The 22 race F.A.S.T. schedule will kick off on April 24th at Attica
Raceway Park and finish on September 12th at Fremont Speedway. A full
schedule and explanation of the points system will be released soon.
The point fund total continues to climb as more sponsors and
advertisers are being secured. The goal is to be able to pay $10,000
to the winner of the Kistler Cup and pay down to $1000 for 10th
place. In addition, there will be a contingency award program with
parts, certificates, and discounts worth more than $20,000 that will
be divided up amongst the teams throughout the season and at the year
end banquet. All this is in addition to what the two tracks pay out
for their respective points funds.
